The DPF traps soot; regeneration burns it off by raising exhaust temperature until the soot oxidizes. Passive regen happens by itself under sustained load. Active regen is the machine deliberately raising temperature — and it needs conditions to finish: enough load, enough time, an uninterrupted cycle. Shut the machine down mid-regen enough times and soot load climbs toward the levels where the derate ladder starts.
None of this is operator error — it’s the machine’s design meeting the farm’s reality. Knowing the pattern is most of the defense.
Frequent regens, a lamp that won’t stay off, power that fades as soot load climbs — those are diagnosable states, not mysteries. We read the soot model, the regen history, and the sensor data at the farm, and tell you plainly whether you’re looking at habits, a sensor lying, an upstream problem making real soot, or a filter that genuinely needs service.

There’s no single right number — it depends on duty cycle, fuel, and machine. What matters is the trend: a machine that suddenly regens far more often than its own normal is telling you something changed.
Usually yes — working under load is often the best thing for it. What hurts is shutting down mid-cycle again and again. If the display asks for a parked regen, that request has a reason.
Yes. Poor fuel and worn injectors both make more soot, which means more regens. If the filter is filling unusually fast, upstream causes are part of the diagnosis.
